RE
RE at HCFS
Our RE curriculum aims to offer children the opportunities to understand sources of wisdom and their impact whilst also exploring personal and critical responses to what is being learnt. At HCFS the RE curriculum has been devised based on the diverse needs of the children and the recommendations from The Herts Agreed Syllabus for RE. The RE curriculum has been developed to promote fluency and links between the six principle religions. The RE sessions are underpinned by eight identified sub-areas of RE which allow children to draw on the similarities between religions whilst also focusing on their community, their own personal development and wellbeing. These eight areas are beliefs and practices, sources of wisdom, symbols and actions, prayers, worship and reflections, identity and belonging, ultimate questions, human responsibility and justice and fairness.
HCFS further promote values of SMSC, British Values and RE in a variety of additional ways to ensure children understand the relevance’s of RE in today’s modern world and how it affects our lives.
