Mathematics at HCFS
At HCFS we aim to deliver a high quality mathematics education which equips children in becoming fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics through varied and frequent practice of skills. The teaching of mathematics follows a clearly mapped curriculum where progression of skills and knowledge is evident and referenced to government curriculum guidance. We intend for all children to be able to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately across the curriculum and we challenge pupils to talk, think and solve problems; developing a sense of curiosity about the subject. We ask children to explain, reason, prove and explore number and we encourage them to share their understanding with others.
Below you will find:
- Our '3 I's' document which explains the Intent, Implementation and Impact of our maths curriculum.
- Our '1 Page Overview' which shows a year view of the overarching maths curriculum so you can see what is taught in each year group and when. Weekly class blogs provide information about what has covered that week, as well as what is coming up next.
- Our 'Progression Map' which shows how skills develop throughout primary school.
- Our 'Progression of Maths Vocabulary' document which indicates when children are exposed to the different types of mathematical language.
If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to speak with the class teacher.
