At HCFS, our curriculum intends to inspire creativity, imagination, risk taking, innovation and a critical understanding of the impact of design technology on daily life and the wider world. Children design and make products that solve real and relevant problems considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values whilst enabling them to use and apply skills from other curriculum subjects including mathematics, science, computing and art. Our ‘Golden Threads’ have been woven into the curriculum, allowing them apply the core skills across a range of contexts. This enables them to build on their understanding year on year, making connections between previous projects. Children are provided with the opportunity to understand how key events and individuals in design and technology have helped to shape the world.
