Spring Term
Year 4 Woodpeckers
As we ended our PE block it was time for the children to put all the skill learnt to the test.
First up it was the turn our Y4 Woodpeckers to participate in a handball tournament.
The teams were formed from our house groups, to ensure an equal number of players it meant some housed had to be merged. The Elephants and Zebras combined to form the Zeles, while the Giraffes, Panthers, and Parrots united to create the Gaps.
The three teams competed against one another, with each match awarding 3 points to the winner.
The first match featured the Crocs facing off against the Zeles, resulting in a victory for the Crocs.
The subsequent match saw the Zeles take on the Gaps, which proved to be evenly matched. The Zeles managed to break through and score, but the Gaps responded by overcoming the defence to equalize the score. The match concluded in a draw.
Finally, the Crocs faced the Gaps, with both teams needing a win to top the leader board. The match showcased excellent defence and skilful play. The Crocs, demonstrating superb passing, advanced the ball into the scoring zone and successfully scored. Undeterred, the Gaps pressed forward but were repeatedly thwarted by the Crocs' defence. Eventually, the Gaps found an opening and scored, levelling the match. As the end approached, both teams made numerous last-ditch efforts to secure a victory.
The Crocs in 1st, Gaps in 2nd and Zeles in 3rd
Year 6
During this PE block the children learnt the sport handball. To ensure balanced teams, the groups were once again combined. The Crocodiles and Elephants formed the Elecs, while the Giraffes and Panthers united to become the Pangs. Additionally, the Parrots and Zebras created two teams, named Paz and Zeps.
We conducted two simultaneous matches, showcasing impressive gameplay among all the teams. Several matches were closely contested, and the standings are as follows
Team | Standings |
Paz | 1st |
Elecs | 2nd |
Pangs | 3rd |
Zeps | 4th |
Sparrowhawks
In this intra-house competition, the teams consisted of elephants and parrots, which combined to form the Parrels, while Giraffes and Panthers merged to create the Pangs. Additionally, Crocodiles and Zebras came together to form the Zecros. The Pangs emerged as the winners of the intra-house competition.
Year 3
This term, the Year 3 students were engaged in learning hockey, with both the Ducks and Swans classes participating. Although the weather was unfavorable, being both cold and wet, we were all thoroughly impressed by the children's hockey handling skills.
Autumn Term
Year 4
This was our intra house netball competition involving the two Year 4 classes, Woodpeckers and Kingfishers. Each class was divided into six randomly selected teams, which then participated in mini netball matches. The matches were closely contested but Woodpeckers were the overall winners congratualtions!
Here are some reflections from the children
"I enjoyed people cheering me on"
"Having Fun"
"Working together as Team"
Year 2 Owls Class
In this PE block we focused on developing ball skills utilizing our feet. We decide to put these skills to the test in an intra house dribbling relay. In order to create balanced teams, we combined some of the houses and the four houses were Crocodiles, Giraffes, Pele, Zeps. The event showcased an impressive display of skills with the Giraffes securing first place and the Crocodiles finishing as the runners-up.
Well done !
