At Hatfield Community Free School, Complete P.E. is a scheme used to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum. The curriculum is designed to motivate and empower children to succeed across a wide range of physical activities, including competitive sport. We aim to develop physically confident learners whose skills, knowledge and attitudes support lifelong health and fitness. By engaging with a rich variety of sports, pupils are able to explore different disciplines, recognise their personal strengths and preferences, and discover activities they enjoy and may wish to pursue further.
Through extensive opportunities to participate in sport and collaborative games, pupils build character and deepen their understanding of core values such as fairness, respect and teamwork. As pupils progress through the school, they develop a secure foundation of essential physical skills which are progressively built upon year by year through a broad range of sports and movement‑based topics.
By the time they leave HCFS, we aim for children to be resilient, independent and with a positive growth mindset towards physical activity, equipping them to embrace healthy, active lifestyles both now and in the future.
