Home Learning Focus: Reading

Our core focus for home learning is encouraging children to read five times a week, based on extensive research showing that regular reading helps children become proficient readers.

Each reading session should be recorded in your child’s reading record. This can include:

  • Personal reading by your child
  • Reading to a sibling
  • Reading to an adult
  • An adult reading to your child

As a parent, you can choose to sign the reading record daily or once at the end of five entries—whatever works best for your family.

In addition to reading, there are optional tasks outlined in the homework handout that your child may enjoy engaging with.

Thank you for supporting your child’s learning journey!
